Where to Find the Best Bagels in Austin

Austin has a lot of great food, but we have surprisingly few options for really good bagels. Austinites enjoy a good (or even bad) breakfast taco, but the thing I really crave some days (and literally craved when I was pregnant) is a good cheesy bagel covered in cream cheese.

If you’re on the hunt for where to find the best bagels in Austin, try one of these tasty local spots. The best bagels, schmears and bagel sandwiches around Austin.

Austin's best bagels

And listen, there’s no shame in an Einstein’s Bagels or Panera run either. You gotta do what you gotta do to get your bagel fix.

If you’d like to see all the options on a map and find the best bagels nearby, here you go:

Best Bagels – Austin

Rosen’s Bagel Co.

11101 Burnet Rd Ste A100, Austin, TX 78758

422 W 5th St C, Austin, TX 78701

Rosen's bagels

Rosen’s might just be the best bagels in town. The right chew, schmear, lox, all of it. They have two brick-and-mortar stores in Austin, and you can also find their bagels at coffee shops and stores around the area. Find the list of locations on their website.

Nervous Charlie’s

5501 N Lamar Blvd Ste. B101, Austin, TX 78751

410 W Whitestone Blvd Suite 300, Cedar Park, TX 78613

nervous charlie's

Nervous Charlie’s has really good bagel breakfast sandwiches (and a really cute nervous dog logo). The Cedar Park location has some patio space that normally has chalk out for kids to use on the concrete, so it’s a good spot to stay and eat.

Rockstar Bagels

1900 Rosewood Ave, Austin, TX 78702

Rockstar Bagels makes really solid bagels that are a favorite among locals (in fact, tons of other local spots serve Rockstar Bagels).

Wholy Bagel

3637 Far W Blvd, Austin, TX 78731

4404 W William Cannon Dr, Austin, TX 78749

If you’ve been searching for a good rye bagel, Wholy Bagel should be your next stop. They bake their New York-style bagels fresh daily at their two locations.

David Doughie’s

2427 Webberville Rd, Austin, TX 78702

This bagel trailer is located at Fleet Coffee in East Austin and has one of the best bagel sandwiches in town. People rave about these bagels — the chew and flavor — though they are on the more expensive side.

The Williamson County Bagel Co.

14300 Ronald Reagan Blvd, Leander, TX 78641

If you’re in the northern suburbs, check out The Wilco Bagel Co. They hand-roll, boil and bake their bagels daily and are a great option on the north side.

Casper Fermentables

4715 S Lamar Blvd #101A, Sunset Valley, TX 78745

Many people from the Northeast claim Casper Fermentables is the closest bagel you can get in Austin to those you can find in New York and the Northeast. They also have kombucha on tap, if that’s your thing.
