1. Handel’s

Handel’s serves the most delicious homemade ice cream in a ton of flavors. You can’t go wrong with any of their options. Find the playground just outside the shop — there are benches and a few tables nearby.

The playscape is separated from the parking lot by a fence, but PSA: it’s not fully fenced-in, so keep a close eye on your little ones!

2. Connor’s Creamery at Garbo’s

Whether you grab some soft serve from Connor’s Creamery after your meal at Garbo’s on Mopac or go just for the ice cream, you won’t regret your visit. Just fill out your order and hand it to a waiter while the kids play on the pirate ship playground and swings. You choose what flavor to add to your vanilla base plus toppings!

3. Jeni’s Ice Cream

Jeni’s in the Triangle not only has a chalkboard inside for kids to draw on, but it is directly across the (small) street from the little Triangle park. Take your ice cream to the shaded playground. It’s a great size for toddlers and preschoolers especially.

All the Amy’s Ice Creams locations connected to Phil’s Icehouse have great playgrounds! You can go for a burger before your ice cream, or just for a treat. Amy’s has great flavors and mix-ins, and it’s an Austin original!

5. Bésame

This ice cream truck has the most unique and delicious flavors. (In fact, if you want a pint, their drops always sell out so you’ve got to be quick!)

You can find the original Bésame trailer at Meanwhile Brewing and enjoy their natural wood playground and soccer-inspired jungle gym. They’ve also been expanding and have a location at Littlefield’s, which has a fenced-in turf hill area, blocks and a chalkboard.

6. Zed’s Ice Cream

This New Zealand style of ice cream is made from real fruit and you choose your drizzles and toppings. Yum! The Harvey Street location has a fenced turf area with a small hill for kids to play on.

7. Manolis

This truck out in west Austin serves all kinds of sweet treats, including lots of different ice cream flavors made in-house. There’s also a variety of popsicles and Italian ice.

There is a small playscape plus lots of lawn games for lots of fun while you enjoy your frozen treat.

8. Mandola’s

Mandola’s is an Italian restaurant, so you can of course get lunch or dinner there, but it’s also a good spot for gelato! In fact, the kids’ meal comes with a scoop of gelato.

The Cedar Park location of Mandola’s has a big playground and shaded turf area that all ages enjoy.

9. Lick Honest Ice Creams

There’s no playground attached directly to Lick ice cream in Mueller, but it’s just half a block down from the Mueller Lake Park playground. You can grab your ice cream and walk over to the sea monster statue and fenced-in playground.

The Fieldhouse at the Crossover is such a fun family place, with tons of room, a fully shaded and fenced-in playground, and lots of food trucks to choose from. And that includes Skye’s Ice, which serves handmade Italian ice in lots of flavors. You can even get cookie ice cream sandwiches!
