Where to Find Fully Fenced-In Playgrounds in Austin

Good fences make good playgrounds! If you have a kid who likes to run, if you’re juggling multiple kids, or if you just want a little extra security between your kids and the parking lot, playgrounds with fences are a great way for everyone in the family to have a good time!

These playgrounds in the Austin area are completely fenced-in, so you don’t have to worry about a kid wandering away. Just a PSA: some playgrounds have multiple gates in the fence, so make sure they’re all closed!

Totally Fenced-In Playgrounds in Austin

These Austin-area parks have playgrounds with fences that go all the way around. As long as the gates are closed, these should be completely fenced-in.

1. Roy G. Guerrero Metro Park

400 Grove Blvd, Austin, TX 78741

Roy Guerrero Park

Roy Guerrero is a great option for a fenced playground that the whole family will love. It is big, but you can see most of it from any given spot, and it has playscapes for big kids and little kids.

2. Ricky Guerrero Park

2006 S 6th St, Austin, TX 78704

If you are looking for a smaller space and don’t need a huge playscape, Ricky Guerrero will work for you. There are two small playgrounds great for toddlers up to preschoolers or early elementary.

The splash pad at Ricky Guerrero is a popular one — it is near the playground, but it is not fenced. There is a low wall around most of it, though.

3. Lost Creek Neighborhood Park

1305 Quaker Ridge Dr, Austin, TX 78746

Lost Creek Neighborhood Park

This is a great shaded park in Lost Creek with an expansive little kids’ playground, a bigger playground for older kids, and a little playhouse. There’s a public bathroom, picnic tables and benches, and a little digging area too.

4. Loewy Family Playground

7022 Hart Ln, Austin, TX 78731

Loewy Family Playground

Loewy Family Playground in North Austin is a cute little contained play area with turf, a cool rope and slide structure, little climbing features and a disc swing.

5. Hartford Park

1605 Ethridge Ave, Austin, TX 78703

This Austin pocket park makes great use of what used to be an empty traffic triangle, and it’s completely fenced for added safety. It has a playscape for 2- to 5-year-olds and a playscape for 5- to 12-year-olds, as well as swings, picnic tables and benches.

6. Play for All Abilities Park in Round Rock

151 N A W Grimes Blvd, Round Rock, TX 78664

Play for All Abilities Playground

Play for All Abilities Park in Round Rock may be the best playground in the entire greater Austin area. It’s huge with lots of different areas to play, including a race track and tiny town for bikes and scooters. The whole place is fenced, and the tiny town is fenced separately from the rest of the playground.

The size can also be a downside — even though it is fully fenced-in, it’s so big that you may have trouble keeping track of a runner or if you have multiple kids.

7. Mueller Lake Park

4550 Mueller Blvd, Austin, TX 78723

Mueller Lake Park

Right across from the Thinkery, by Mueller Lake, there’s a gated playground with two main playscapes, swings, and lots of different little features. I think this one could do for an update, but it’s still a fun part of an outing in Mueller and completely fenced.

There’s a gate near the sea monster and another by the bathrooms, so make sure they’re both closed.

Mostly Fenced-In Playgrounds

These playgrounds near Austin have fences around the perimeter except for the entrance.

1. Garey Park

6450 Ranch to Market Rd 2243, Georgetown, TX 78628

Garey Park

This is a paid park in Georgetown, near Leander with a 2-acre playground area with a splash pad and ziplines. It’s not a good option if you have a kid that’s determined to escape, but it may fit the bill if you just have a wanderer who stops at obvious boundaries.

The gate is normally open at the front. It is fenced-in all around, but they are ranch-style wooden post-and-rail fences, so a kid can climb through or over them if they want to.

2. Creative Playscape

1003 N Austin Ave, Georgetown, TX 78626

Another Georgetown playground that is fenced-in except for the entrance! Creative Playscape has several fun different playscapes, including a small one for little kids, a little train playscape and a big interconnected playscape that looks like a little town in front and has some huge slides.

Restaurant Playgrounds With Fences

And in Austin, you can’t forget the restaurants with playgrounds! There are tons of restaurant playgrounds around, but these stand out for their complete fences.

1. Hat Creek

Multiple locations

Hat Creek locations always have a fence around the outer perimeter of the playground and patio eating area.

2. Brentwood Social House

1601 W Koenig Ln, Austin, TX 78756

The backyard at Brentwood Social House has a cute pirate ship playground and tables, plus a full fence to keep kids safe.

3. Fieldhouse

1717 Scottsdale Dr Suite 160, Leander, TX 78641

It’s easy to keep an eye on kids at the Fieldhouse at the Crossover in Leander. The playgrounds are completely fenced in and shaded! There’s a big playscape and even a tiny area for tots.

4. Oz Taphouse

10601 Ranch Rd 2222 Suite H, Austin, TX 78730

There’s not a lot of space to run around at this playground, but it and the patio seating are fenced-in together, and it’s so easy to keep your kids close even when they’re playing.
