What To Do In Austin With Kids In April

If you’re visiting Austin in April, you are in for a treat — it’s one of the best times of year to enjoy the weather and scenery. Perfect for outdoor adventures or hanging out on a patio or at a brewery! You’ll see wildflowers blooming along highways and in parks, and even explore one of the botanical gardens in town to see even more.

Easter Events in the Austin Area

Easter this year is Sunday, April 20, 2025. It’s a late one, but there are so many fun events happening to celebrate.

Spring Festival at Alamo Recreation Center: April 5

Kick off spring with prizes and giveaways, snacks, games, and Easter egg hunts (a separate one for toddlers).

Bunny Bonanza at Northwest Recreation Center: April 11

This free event is for toddlers up to 5-year-olds. Egg hunt, lawn games, arts and crafts and more. Bring a basket!

Easter Market at Progress Buda: April 12

Shop local vendors at this Easter market, plus free crafts and games for kids and free Easter Bunny photos from 11:30-1:30.

Eggstravaganza in the Park at Parque Zaragoza: April 13

Get your photo taken with the Easter Bunny and take part in a huge egg hunt at this free Parque Zaragoza Recreation Center event. There will be face painting, balloon animals, bounce house and games.

Easter Egg Hunt at Bell Springs Winery: April 13

Fun for kids and adults at Bell Springs Winery. The egg hunt is free, but a $5 adult ticket gets you a pulled pork sandwich and a kid’s mac n cheese.

Skate With the Easter Bunny at Ice & Field at the Crossover: April 13

Easter egg hunt, DJ set and ice skating with the Easter Bunny! Get your selfie with the bunny and have a fun time.

Flashlight Egg Hunt at Old Settlers Park: April 17

Bring your flashlight to Old Settlers Park for a fun after-dark egg hunt! After the last hunt, stay for a screening of The Wild Robot.

Dripping Springs Eggstravaganza: April 19

The third annual Eggstravaganza will feature two helicopter egg drops this year, at noon and 4 pm. Buy your egg drop tickets for one of the time frames, but join the festive fun anytime from 10 am to 6 pm, with activities, vendors and food and drinks.

Easter Egg Hunt at Liberty Tavern: April 19

Family-friendly Liberty Tavern in Liberty Hill is hosting an Easter egg hunt with surprise golden eggs, bubbles, popcorn, treats and free kids meal (with purchase of an adult entree during the event).

Easter Party at Fitzhugh Brewing: April 19

Join Fitzhugh Brewing from 11 am to 4 pm for Easter fun! You’ll find vendors, family fun and an egg hunt.

Spring Fling at Austin City Parks: April 19

Rec centers around Austin are holding their annual spring flings with games, prizes and egg hunts! Locations: Montopolis, Gus Garcia, Dittmar, Givens, Turner-Roberts, George Morales Dove Springs.

Easter Egg Hunt & Flower Planting at Meanwhile: April 20

Kids from babies to age 8 can take part in Meanwhile Brewing’s egg hunt with eggs filled with wildflower seeds! Then there will be a group seed scattering. Plus kids activities, brunch specials and live music. Sign-ups required for egg hunt.

Murphy’s Egg Hunt Extravaganza at Roughhouse Brewing: April 20

This fun family-friendly San Marcos brewery is hosting an egg hunt on their soccer field at 11:30 (with easy and harder levels of hunting areas for different ages). RSVP and bring your own basket.

Sweet Eats Baby Animal Days: all month

Sweet Eats Fruit Farm has year-round activities, but springtime means babies! February through April, visit the farm for the baby animal petting zoo (included in GA) and bottle feed the babies (not included in GA).

ABC Kite Fest: April 5, 2025

Come fly kites for fun or enter the community kite contest at the 97th annual ABC Kite Fest. 10 am to 5 pm at Zilker Park. Enjoy a lineup of children’s concerts and visit the kid’s club for bounce houses and other fun.

Squirrel Fest: April 12, 2025

There is so much going on at Squirrel Fest at Pease Park (4-10 pm)! Family yoga, bird bingo, puppet shows, nature tattoos, instrument zoo, face painting, the Trolls movie on the great lawn and more!

Rock the Park: April 11, 2025

Bring a blanket and picnic (or buy food there!) and listen to Akin High School Mariachi and LP Giobbi at the Mueller Lake Park amphitheater. This free concert series is curated by KUTX.

Waterloo Morning Glories: Tuesdays in April

Each week of this early childhood education series at Waterloo Park has a different theme, including the Beatles, Earth Day, dinosaurs and more this month. It starts at 10 am.

Native Plant Sale at Wildflower Center: Weekends in April

The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is hosting its spring Native Plant Sale on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am to 1 pm. Open to the public.

Things to Do In April in Austin

Visit Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center or Zilker Botanical Garden to see the flowers in full bloom! This is one of the most gorgeous times of year for a visit.

See the bats at Congress Avenue Bridge! Late March to September is the time frame when this urban bat population emerges just after sunset.

Round Rock Express minor league baseball games are in full swing this month.

What’s the weather like in Austin in April?

April is a gorgeous month to be in Austin! The full heat of summer hasn’t hit yet, the flowers are blooming, and it’s the perfect patio (or playground) weather.

The high temperatures (in Fahrenheit) are typically high 70s to low 80s and lows are mid-60s to low 70s. April can sometimes see rain, especially toward the end of the month.
